Letter to my Children

2019

175cm x 30cm

Glass

A highly personal piece; Letter to my Children is another reflective attempt to portray lessons in life; as a parent would to their children. The ever weaving, ever flowing geometric pieces of glass explain the importance of going with the flow in life yet the fact it's ok to change direction when needed.

The interlocking geometric pieces of coloured and crackle glass used infer that the ability to stay fluid is vital, because if not: one can shatter physiologically or mentally through pressure. It encourages one  to hold onto what’s precious, shown with pressed flowers. Good relationships: be it with other people or nature are hard come by and easily shattered if trust is compromised. The mirror encourages self review, reflection and acceptance- because if you can like yourself, you’re half way there.
